Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

As we age, we start to notice wrinkle lines in our face, even when we are not making any facial expressions. These are caused by the repeated use of the facial muscles in a particular manner.

For example, just as a freshly ironed shirt will become severely creased at the elbow as a result of bending the arm, in a similar way, our facial lines form whenever we frown, squint or smile. This is the most common sign of ageing that patient’s endeavour to get treated.

Treatment involves temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles in specific areas using botulinum toxin, resulting in smoother lines and a more youthful appearance to the skin.

Our ethos is to use a ‘less is more’ approach to ensure that we enhance your natural beauty.

You will have a consultation with your practitioner who will assess your suitability and most importantly, tailor the treatment to ascertain your desired outcome. This treatment is suitable for men and women; however, men tend to require a slighter higher dose than women. We will advise if wrinkle-smoothing injections is the best route to take or if another treatment is more appropriate.

In the right hands, botulinum toxin is a very effective and safe treatment to cosmetically address facial wrinkles.

At sk:INSPIRE Medical, risks will be discussed in depth at your consultation. Immediately following your treatment, the injection site can be mildly tender and swollen, which usually subsides after 48 hours.

Side effects are rare, but occasionally, you may experience heaviness over the eyebrows, which can last for 2 to 3 weeks. There is a very low risk (1-2%) of brow ptosis (drooping of the eyebrow) or eyelid ptosis (drooping of the eyelid), which completely reverses with time. Allergy, headaches, nausea and flu-like symptoms is extremely rare. There is a possibility that side effects lead to a requirement of further treatment lasting several months.

Treatments are provided at dedicated clinics by fully qualified medical practitioners who are able to deal with complications. The risks reduce in qualified hands – our aim is to keep you safe.

We allow 30 minutes for your appointment. The procedure itself takes from 5 to 10 minutes, dependent on the number of injection sites that are needed.

We offer this treatment after a face to face consultation with a medical practitioner. A bespoke quote will be given at the time of the consultation. Please contact us for more information.
