Seborrheic Keratosis

Seborrheic keratosis is a common, non-cancerous skin growth that typically appears in middle-aged and older adults. These growths can vary in colour from light tan to black and often have a waxy, wart-like appearance. They can be round or oval, flat or slightly raised, and may have a rough or smooth surface. Seborrheic keratoses are usually found on the face, chest, shoulders, back, or other areas of the body.

The exact cause of seborrheic keratosis is unknown, but they are believed to be related to aging and genetic factors. They are not caused by sun exposure and are not contagious. While seborrheic keratoses are harmless and do not require treatment, they can sometimes be mistaken for other skin conditions, such as melanoma. For this reason, it’s important to have any new or changing skin growths evaluated.

These are commonly removed through the shave excision method or cryotherapy (freezing), using liquid nitrogen.

Prices for removal are discussed during you pre-operative consultation which is £75. We allocate either 15mins or 30minutes for the procedure depending on how many lesions require treatment. For this the costings are £200 to £300 respectively.
