Menopause & HRT Clinic

Personalised menopause care, with time to talk

Perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than your periods.

For some women, the changes are obvious. For others, symptoms can be more subtle and it may be difficult to know whether what you’re experiencing is related to menopause at all.

Symptoms can include:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats
  • Changes in periods
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Fatigue or low energy
  • Anxiety or changes in mood
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Joint and muscle aches
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort
  • Changes in libido
  • Changes in weight or body composition
  • Palpitations

At sk:INSPIRE Medical, our Menopause & HRT Clinic is led by an experienced female GP with a special interest in women’s health. We offer longer appointments so there’s time to understand what’s been changing, how it’s affecting you and what you would like help with.

Whether you’re beginning to experience symptoms, considering HRT or already taking treatment and would like it reviewed, we’ll help you understand your options and decide what feels right for you.

Care built around you

There is no single experience of menopause and no one treatment that suits everyone.

We consider your symptoms alongside your menstrual and gynaecological history, general health, medication, family history and individual risk factors. Importantly, we don’t assume every new symptom in midlife is caused by menopause. Where something needs further investigation, we can arrange blood tests, imaging or onward referral.

If you’re considering Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), we’ll talk through the potential benefits and risks in the context of your own health. There are different types and ways of taking HRT, and treatment can be tailored and adjusted over time.

If HRT isn’t suitable for you, or you simply don’t want to take it, we can discuss non-hormonal options too.

Looking beyond HRT

Good menopause care is about more than prescribing hormones.

Midlife is an important time to consider your wider health, including blood pressure, cardiovascular risk, bone health, weight, sleep, mood and preventative care. As a GP-led medical service, we can consider these alongside your menopause symptoms rather than treating them in isolation.

We also avoid unnecessary testing. For many women over 45 with typical symptoms, menopause can be identified without hormone blood tests. Where investigations would genuinely be useful, we can arrange them directly.

If your symptoms or medical history require more specialist expertise, we’ll explain this and help guide you towards the appropriate service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your initial appointment is 45 minutes with our female GP.

We’ll discuss your symptoms, menstrual and gynaecological history, general health, medication, family history and any relevant risk factors.

We’ll then talk through your options and agree a plan together. This may include HRT, non-hormonal treatment, lifestyle measures or further investigation.

If HRT is appropriate and you would like to proceed, it can usually be prescribed following your consultation.

Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes.

We’ll review how you’re feeling, what’s improved, any side effects or concerns and whether your treatment needs adjusting. We’ll also review any changes in bleeding where relevant and decide whether further investigation is needed.

Once your treatment is established, HRT should normally be reviewed annually.

We don’t initiate testosterone without appropriate specialist input.

If we think testosterone may have a role in your care, we’ll discuss this with you and advise on appropriate specialist assessment.

That’s absolutely fine. Seeing us doesn’t mean committing to HRT.

We’ll discuss the options available to you, including non-hormonal treatments and lifestyle measures, and help you make an informed decision.

After starting or changing HRT, a review is usually recommended at around three months.

Once you’re settled on treatment, you’ll normally need an annual review. You can arrange an earlier appointment at any time if your symptoms change or you have concerns.
